Computational Approaches to Humanities Scholarship
FAHA Workshop is presented by the Santa Fe Institute (SFI) from July 09 - July 15, 2023.
The Program
The FAHA Institute workshop provides education aimed at a broad range of humanities scholars. The FAHA courses aim to empower scholars in the humanities by eliminating the “black box” of computational text analysis. Participants will gain a theoretical and practical understanding of text analysis methods, and will learn how to extract content and derive meaning from digital sources, enabling new humanities scholarship.
The program is conducted in English. Participants are expected to attend the entire session. Applicants are welcome from all countries. We believe that human diversity in all of its dimensions is essential to meaningful scientific progress and encourage all who are eligible to apply.
Audience
The FAHA Institute workshop is intended primarily for advanced graduate students in the humanities. Faculty and humanities professionals, such as librarians or archivists, may also find it of interest.
Eligibility
1. You must successfully complete the online FAHA course on Complexity Explorer before the start of the in-person workshop. You may apply for the workshop prior to, or while, taking the online course.
2. You must be enrolled in an accredited graduate program, or employed by an accredited academic or non-profit institution.
3. SFI policy requires participants to provide proof of complete COVID-19 vaccination prior to beginning the program.

Enrollment is limited. Accepted students should be notified in April 2023.
